Machine Specifications1. Machine should fit in a box of dimensions 800 mm x 600 mm x 600 mm (l x b x h) at all times during the race. The remote control is not included in the size constraint. 2. The machine should be controlled by a wireless remote control mechanism throughout the race. 3. The machine must not be made any ready-made kits other than the parts mentioned below. Readily available chassis layouts are not allowed. Any machine found having a ready-made chassis will be disqualified. 4. Functional parts (i.e. Gears, differential gear, engine, springs, shock absorbers, servo motors, batteries, wheels, wheel hub) are allowed to be used as available in the market. Structural parts (Chassis, steering mechanism, shock towers and suspension (excluding upper suspension arm, suspension spring and shock absorbers)) have to be fabricated by the participants themselves. 5. Failure of fabrication of any one of the above parts by a team can be exempted but that team will have a time constrained lap to complete to qualify. 6. The tires used must have a minimum diameter of 2 inches. 7. Brake Discs of the braking system should be fabricated by the participants. 8. Steering Mechanism (Any part which is connected to steering rod rigidly) has to be fabricated by participants. 9. Suspension mechanism: Any part rigidly connected to suspension arms has to be fabricated by the participants, except the upper suspension arm. This includes the suspension tower, wishbones (lower suspension arm),other suspension links and excludes springs, shock absorbers and studs. 10. If there are parts used in the concerned joint which are neither rigidly connected with suspension or the hub, steering system or hub; they can be used ready-made from the market.
Propulsion & Steering1. Only the power obtained from an IC engine should be used to propel the machine. Use of any other sources such as chemicals, compressed gas, rockets, and motors etc. for propulsion is not allowed. However DC motors and servos can be used for steering mechanisms or any other control mechanisms apart from propulsion. 2. The machine must have an on-board power supply to run any mechanism requiring electric power. The electric voltage anywhere in the machine should not exceed 12V at any point of time. 3. The maximum allowed capacity of IC engine to be used is 3.5 cc. 4. A proper cooling mechanism is advisable to prevent overheating of the engine. 5. The participants are advised to use proper air filters (to protect the engine from dirt) as well as a proper cooling mechanism (to prevent overheating of the engine).
Team SpecificationsA team may consist of a maximum of 5 participants. Students from different educational institutes can form a team.
EligibilityAll students with a valid AXIS 2013 ID are eligible to participate.
Game Rules1. There will be a qualifying round. The top teams will race in the second round. 2. The track will have check points at regular intervals. One of the team members can assist from within the arena in case the machine stops, tumbles, or goes out of the arena boundary. The controller shall however remain on the controller’s stand at all times. 3. Any machine found to be harmful to the arena or other machines shall be disqualified on judges' discretion. 4. Participants are required to use a remote control with frequency band spectrum 2.4 GHz. 5. Practice time may be allotted to the teams according to their reporting order. 6. The teams must participate in healthy competition. The teams must not damage the opponent's machine in any way. Judges reserve the right to disqualify any team indulging in misbehaviour. 7. Judges decision shall be final and binding on all. 8. The right to change any or all of the above rules rests with the organisers as they deem necessary. Change(s) in rules, if any, will be conveyed to the participants.
Abstract SubmissionParticipants have to submit a written abstract of the machine before the event to be eligible to qualify for the event.
